We all know that having good mental health helps us relax more, achieve more and enjoy our lives more. That’s why we’ve been working so hard in Manchester to ensure that our mental health services are commissioned to meet the health needs of our population and that all communities benefit from the services. We’re pleased to report that at our annual external stakeholder Equality Delivery System (EDS) 2 event held during September our Mental Health Service – Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) was graded as achieving when it came to both these criteria’s.
As an organisation we understand the importance of ensuring that we have a range of mental health provision in place so people can get the help they need and deserve. That’s why NHS Manchester Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) commissions a range of NHS, Independent and VCSE (Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise) providers to deliver a range of services including acute and crisis hospital provision, rehabilitation and recovery services, talking therapies and wider support services. We also financially support local organisations to help support those who want to improve their mental health.
We also support wider NHS initiatives like Every Mind Matters, a programme that encourages and supports people to take simple actions and steps to manage feelings of stress, anxiety and low mood.
From tips on how to increase physical activity, to mindful breathing exercises and advice on how to reframe unhelpful thoughts, all the information and advice in Every Mind Matters has been developed with experts and approved by the NHS.
