MHCC leads the way at Manchester Pride Parade
NHS staff from across Greater Manchester gathered together on Saturday 24 August for Manchester Pride. Almost 400 staff members took part in the parade and marched wearing rainbow coloured NHS t-shirts.
The engagement team were out in force speaking to people about their views on the NHS. Engagement staff also promoted Manchester’s very own Lung Health Checks and our locality plan at the Pride Expo.
Feedback about using NHS services was very positive and people were very forthcoming in sharing how proud they were of the NHS and how grateful they were for the hard working and caring NHS staff. Festival goers also shared their lived experience of the NHS which will be used to influence our future service designs.
The comments received really helped put into perspective why we have all chosen to do the job we do:
“High quality, friendly staff, caring and thoughtful atmosphere, FREE for all!!”
“It provides treatment and care without discrimination”
“No matter your background or means you are able to access world class healthcare for free. Many people around the world could only dream of such a system. It’s OUR NHS!”
“The NHS is an overworked, underpaid but amazing. The work they do is incredible. They have saved my life and I will be eternally grateful”
Whether you took part in the parade or had gone to enjoy yourself, it was definitely a weekend to remember. For those of you who weren’t able to attend, we’d love to hear your thoughts about NHS services for the LGBTQ+ community drop an an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
