Manchester Health and Care Commissioning (MHCC) has been supporting the merger of Chorlton Family Practice (CFP) and the Corkland Road Medical Practice (CRMP) which took effect on Friday 1 October 2021.
Despite the merger, both practices will retain their names and continue to deliver Primary Care services from both sites. The existing provision of services will continue unchanged. To avoid any disruption to patient access, current telephone numbers, operating hours and extended hours will remain the same at both sites. CRMP will function as a branch to the main site at Chorlton Health Centre.
Staff from both sites have also worked closely to ensure patients feel involved, supported, and cared for, during this time. They have engaged with registered patients, their carers, specific vulnerable groups, and the local community.
These interactions have informed their Strategic Practice Plan covering 2021-24. It broadly focuses on expanding the services offered locally, employing a larger workforce and attracting specialists, among other things.
In addition, the newly-formed practice intends to appoint a dedicated manager to support all future patient and community engagement activities. MHCC will continue to work with the merged practice providing support and associated governance, to ensure a safe and smooth transition.
