Manchester Royal Infirmary opens a new temporary A&E entrance

Changes to MRI Emergency Department

From Tuesday 17 May, the entrances for the Emergency Department (ED) and Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) at the Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI) will be moving to make way for the redevelopment of MRI’s ED – Project RED.

Any patient who turns up to A&E or the Urgent Treatment Centre will need to use the new entrance in the modular building outside of the Outpatients Entrance, near Grafton Street Car Park.

Here patients will be assessed and directed to the correct department.

Project RED will modernise the site’s facilities to meet the changing needs of the local population.

It will include increased capacity and a more streamlined layout to ensure patients continue to receive high-quality emergency treatment and care in an improved environment.
