Hospitals merger cleared by Competition and Markets Authority
The Competition and Markets Authority has cleared the merger between Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM).
The establishment of a single hospital trust for Manchester is one of the “three pillars” of the Manchester Locality Plan.
The CMA’s announcement is published here. It notes that the plan was supported by commissioners, local authorities Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership and NHS England.
The decision has been welcomed by the two trusts. Read their response here.
