Is this Study Day for me?

If you are currently a HCA who vaccinates then this is the course for you, all vaccinators are required to undertake an annual update to enable them to continue to adhere to the national core standard for vaccinations and NHS England Service Specifications. This is an interactive study day for HCAs who are current vaccinators, it includes quizzes, live scenarios and interactive voting games which, provides elements of fun learning which we can guarantee will keep you interested.

What’s it all about?

HCAs attending this course will be able to confidently and safely continue to administer flu, pneumococcal, shingles vaccinations to the appropriate cohort of patients. This course provides information to enable all vaccinators to work in line with current NHS policies and recommendations. They will have discussed routes and methods to improve uptake of flu vaccinations among those ‘at risk’ thus decreasing mortality in the locality

Aim of the training

To ensure that all HCAs involved with the delivery of immunisations are equipped with the understanding and ability to administer the adult national immunisations programme safely and effectively. To be able to adhere to the national core standards for administering vaccinations.

What happens on the day?

9:15 or 1.15 start Registration and welcome
9:30 or 1.30 Review previous learning
10.15 or2.15 Influenza 18/19 programme
11.00 or 3.00 Coffee
11.15 or 3.15 Stop press – what’s new about vaccinations
11.45 or 3.45 Common questions/scenarios and reviewing current practice
12.10 or 4.10 Cold chain key principles
12.30 or 4.30 Evaluation and certificates

What’s the result?

At the end of the day delegates will:

  • Understand the new changes to the national adult vaccination schedule.
  • Discuss the 18/19 vaccination programmes
  • Understand the impact of influenza, shingles, and pneumococcal on patients and how to respond to patient’s queries.
  • Cold chain issues and principles to adhere to.
  • Review of current practice
  • Relevant current issues in flu, pneumococcal and shingles vaccination
  • Introduction to Childrens Flu programme
  • Certificates of attendance
