The North Of England Pathology and Screening Education Centre (NEPSEC) is offering a series of training dates to ensure that healthcare professionals are competent in taking cervical samples for the purpose of the NHS Cervical Screening Programme (NHSCSP).
Nine Month Training Component
- Attending a course covering the theory of the NHS Cervical Screening Programme in line with the NHSCSP (two days)
- Visiting a Cytology Laboratory and colposcopy Clinic during the 9 month period
- Arrange and complete an independent external assessment
- On completion of all of the above, the participant will submit a portfolio of evidence
Who can apply?
Any registered nurse, doctor or physician associate who will be becoming actively involved in the Cervical Screening Programme. As a large component of the course entails sample taking, it is expected that the applicant will have access to a clinical setting for training.
It is expected that the student will complete all components within 9 months post attendance of the two day theoretical study course. In exceptionalcircumstances an extension of a maximum 3 months may be granted upon application.
These events are granted 12 study hours accredited by the Royal College of Nursing Centre for Professional Accreditation.
Course Cost: £350 per person and payable in advance of the course.
