Creating a targeted fund for improving outcomes in the first 1000 days of a child’s life

Earlier this year, the Our Manchester Voluntary Sector programme team had undertaken a co-design process for the Targeted Fund priority – Improving Outcomes in the First 1,000 Days of a Child’s Life with representatives from Manchester City Council, Manchester Health and Care Commissioning and individuals from various voluntary sector organisations.

As part of this process, a consultation took place between July and August 2019 and a big thank you to everyone who provided their comments whether it was through our online survey, at one of our public events or through another channel.

We have now reviewed all the feedback provided and, where we are able to, are incorporating this into the key fund documents being produced (prospectus, application form and guidance) ready for the launch.

Much of the feedback from the consultation was about language, clarification and expectations of the lead applicant when working in partnership with others.

The consultation report [PDF, 72 KB] includes the results of the consultation, plus a You said, We did and we have also updated our most frequently asked questions [PDF, 153 KB].

Finally, we have shared a copy of the current Manchester Public Health Annual Report 2019 – The first 1,000 days which provides an informative look at why the first 1000 days is important and what is being done in the city to support this area of work.
