MULTI-PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT FOR LEARNING IN PRACTICE – MENTORSHIP

TARGET AUDIENCE/ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Nurses, Midwifes and Allied Health Professionals

Access to a qualified mentor/educator to support/assess the practice component of the course unit.  Also access to a learner/student in order to complete the Practice Assessment document.

 

COURSE AIM

The course will improve the breadth and depth of the knowledge, skills and experience of practice educators and the quality and capacity of placement provision within the NHS.

 

COST  FREE (HEALTH EDUCATION ENGLAND FUNDED)

 

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Meet key standards identified by the NMC, Health and Care Professions Council, and Higher Education Academy for continuing professional development;
  • Have developed the skills necessary to support learning and assessment in practice as part of an effective, supportive and dynamic learning process;
  • Be able to critically analyse and evaluate your role as a student mentor and develop innovative approaches to supporting students’ learning in practice;
  • Be prepared to learn and work inter-professionally as you develop and share your knowledge and skills with professionals from other areas of healthcare.
