The Macmillan Cancer Improvement Partnership (MCIP) was a radical transformation of cancer services across the city of Manchester. It was one of the largest Macmillan Cancer Support funded system redesign projects in England.
The vision was that local people would be able to say that they have received the best cancer support and treatment from an expert team who made them feel cared for and in control.
The MCIP Board was made up of Macmillan Cancer Support, NHS Manchester CCG, people affected by cancer, GPs, NHS hospital trusts, St Ann’s Hospice and Manchester City Council to achieve this. There was partnership working with the Cancer Vanguard to share learning and have complimentary aims.
