Director of Strategic Planning

Ed has worked for the NHS in Manchester for nearly 20 years. He started his career as an Invoice Payments Officer. The early part of his career was in Finance and he even qualified as an accountant. Ed then moved into commissioning and project roles for a numbers of years.

As Director of Planning and Operations, his responsibility areas includes, strategic and operational planning; leadership of the City’s Locality Plan ‘Our Healthier Manchester’; corporate affairs; workforce and organisational development; IT and Estates. The directorate also leads a number of projects including, the establishment of the Manchester Local Care Organisation (MLCO); and the transfer of North Manchester General Hospital to Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT).

Ed’s ambition is for MHCC to lead the improvement of health outcomes for the people of Manchester. Of particular interest is the postive impact of wider issues such as housing, employment and education. With MHCC, bringing together the NHS and the City Council has been a great opportunity for this.

Ed, his wife and two young daughters like to spend their spare time walking, cycling and visiting interesting places.
